Post-Incident Evaluation: Analyzing Fleet Collisions to Enhance Safety

This session will explore the structured process of investigating, analyzing, and understanding the causes and events surrounding a vehicle collision involving a fleet driver. Using a realistic scenario, the session will highlight crash avoidance techniques used by the driver in a collision resulting in serious injury.

In our hypothetical yet realistic scenario, a driver has been involved in a collision.  Illustrated by the event recorder (in-cab camera), this incident will undergo analysis by retired Charlotte Mecklenburg Patrolman Carlos Pozo, lead instructor for Advanced Driver Training Services.

Carlos will reconstruct the crash, assess the severity of charges, and delineate the potential course of investigation and prosecution, as well as delve into the root causes of the incident, dissecting what transpired and why.  He will be emphasizing the imperative for companies to adopt preventive measures against similar occurrences.

This structured discussion can help fleet managers appreciate the critical role of thorough collision analysis in managing fleet safety and operational efficiency, as well as the development of training programs based on the findings to enhance driver awareness and safety skills.
