NAFA Welcomes 900+ Fleet Leaders to Industry’s Largest Live Gathering in Two Years
Fleet professionals across the industry convened on Pittsburgh this week for NAFA’s 2021 I&E, in what has shaped up to be the largest live gathering of fleet professionals in nearly two years.
“I’m excited we stayed the course and found a way to bring fleet managers together safely. Attendees told us this week that seeing the latest fleet technologies in person and having meaningful conversations with fleet thought leaders and problem-solvers was truly needed and sorely missed.”
The event delivered three inspiring keynotes, 40+ educational sessions, and 50+ hours of learning. More than 150 exhibitors showcased new vehicles, products, technologies, and services — many of which were unveiled at I&E for the first time.
“It’s been incredible just taking it all in. I’ve gotten as much out of the expo hall as I have the educational sessions. I’ll be digesting this information for a long time to come.”
Hot topics this week included assessing your fleet’s readiness for EVs and total cost of adoption, case studies in telematics, driver safety and training, new-vehicle delivery forecasts from a panel of OEMs, right-sizing and right-typing your fleet, and the rising importance of corporate ESG (environmental, social, and governance) and how fleets should respond and prepare.

In December 2023, the Canadian federal government finalized the Electric Vehicle Availability Standard, mandating that all new light-duty vehicles (LDVs) sold in Canada be zero-emission by 2035, with interim targets of 20% in 2026 and 60% by 2030. From 2000 until his passing in 2022, he led these award programs and left a lasting impact on the industry. Johnson also authored The Seven Qualities of the Top 100 Fleets and was honored with NAFA’s Honorary Lifetime Membership in 2020.
